Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Bharat Petroleum Join Forces to Establish 7,000 Charging Stations Across India

On Friday, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility announced that it had partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. to establish 7,000 charging stations.

A memorandum of understanding has been struck by the two businesses to work together to build public charging stations all throughout India.

In order to install chargers at sites that Tata EV owners commonly visit, the partnership will take use of Bharat Petroleum Corporation's extensive network of gasoline stations and TPEM's insights from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads, it said.

According to a statement, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has started over 90 electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging highway corridors throughout the country and plans to add 7,000 electric car charging stations by the end of the next year.

Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said that the partnership with BPCL aims to expedite India's transition to e-mobility.

"This cooperative relationship perfectly embodies our common goal of promoting constructive change—a supporting framework for the expanding EV clientele,” he said.

BPCL executive director and in-charge of retail Santosh Kumar said, "EV is a field of collaboration and we believe that joining hands with TPEM shall take the EV game of BPCL and TPEM to the next level."
